Wonderful Food Great Atmosphere

Dogwood offers jamaica plain a great alternative for fantastic food and beer. As opposed to Doyles just down the street, Dogwood has really excellent food and a great selection of good beers. Atmosphere is usually good (sometimes a folk singer is booked which can be annoying if seated too close to). All in all, I would highly recommend folks to try this place out.

Fabulous!

Ever since moving back from Italy, I have been searching for the best pizza in Boston. You'd think we Italians would have brought the same recipe and taste over, but what can you do? The soil is different, as well as the climate and water. But Dogwood has by far the BEST pizza in Boston that tastes like home!!! Forget Santarpio's, Bertucci's, etc...DOGWOOD CAFE ROCKS! It's not on the menu, but they made me a Margherita with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, and fresh basil...INCREDIBLE! Don't miss out on the best pizza in Boston.

I'm amazed by two things about the Dogwood: how many people know of it (a ton) and how many people who have no idea what they're missing (a ton). The place is consistently great - none of that "I might get good food or service." The food and service is ALWAYS good. I have yet to go to any restaurant that is this great consistently - a tribute to those involved.

This little jewel of a restaurant's specialty are it's brick oven pizzas, and yes they are delicious. They do everything else on their Americana menu pretty damn fine as well. Tasty steak tips, pasta, sandwiches, chicken, it's all done quite well here. An okay line up of beers and good bartenders who know how to mix a drink are also on tap. Oh, and surprisingly enough I remember their salads. For most entrees you get served up little starter salads, and even these things are better than they deserve to be... Kudos to you, Dogwood.

There was a guitarist playing! We were delighted. The food was pretty ambitious, I was impressed. I had a very tasty portabella sandwich that had a great sauce and was full of all kinds of good crunchy things. One of my friends got a meatloaf sandwich and the other got the fish sandwich - they both said their food was excellent... There were other neat things on the menu, too - lots of gourmet pizzas that weren't too expensive and exciting salads with things like walnuts and apples in them - I always think it's a good sign when a restaurant can make an interesting sounding salad. All in all, it was a good experience. The service was excellent, and the decor was elegant and comfortable.

Best quesadilla I've had in a while, surprising how easily some people can mess that up. Great salads also, great beer selection, nice dark wood interior, super-friendly staff. I like it.

I couldn't resist the siren song of their pancakes and came back two days in a row. The lovely manager told me that the chef mixes up his own secret recipe of some sort for the dreamy, fluffy pancakes. They are fresher and better tasting than anything I could ever make at home...
Decent brunch options for veggies and carnivores alike. The breakfast pizza seemed fresh and my dining companion very much enjoyed it. I've been here for dinner a few times, too. The non-brunch foods, pizza, pastas, etc. are pretty yummy as well.

This place has great pizzas, lengthy bar and is an all around good choice. If you are looking for something with good staples that is off the standard path check out the Dogwood."

The Dogwood Cafe in JP has instituted weekend brunch, 10-3, Sat. and Sunday, with their regular dinner/pub menu afterwards. We went on Saturday and had delicious buttermilk blueberry pancakes, sides of sausage and bacon, a HUGE side of scrambled eggs, banana stuffed French toast, coffee, and juice. Fresh squeezed OJ was good...Prices were reasonable. They have make your own omelets, eggs Florentine/Benedict, breakfast burritos, breakfast pizzas, and other similar things. Very tasty.
